Rollin Ridge Cemetery Plaque Dedication

  • Greenwood Memorial Gardens Cemetery Rough and Ready Hwy Grass Valley, CA, 95945 United States (map)

Please join us for the installation of a new dedication plaque at the John Rollin Ridge Family Plot! We hope to see you all there! There is a map below and instructions for lunch ordering.

On Saturday, June 21, 2025, Cherokee Nation At-Large Community Sisters, CNCV and Marble City Activity Organization (MCAO), will install the new brushed bronze plaque with the Cherokee Nation Seal and CNCV and MCAO logos. We are anticipating four MCAO members attending!

We plan to install the plaque between 10:30 am and 11:00 am. This event will be one of our scheduled CNCV general meetings.

After our first major clean up of the Ridge Family Plot on September 29, 2018, we received inquiries from Oklahoma as to why there wasn't a prominent reference designating the Cherokee Nation. The MCAO and the CNCV worked together and decided on this plaque design, to be mounted on the surrounding curb at the foot of John's grave.

LUNCH: We are planning a lunch after plaque installation and dedication at Tofanelli’s Gold Country Bistro (302 W Main St, Grass Valley, CA 95945). Pre-ordering for lunch is required for this location. If you are coming, please share your menu request by clicking on the green button below by Friday, June 13th. Please only complete this if you will be attending.

DIRECTIONS: The Ridge Family Plot is located in the unendowed (not maintained) section of the Greenwood Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Grass Valley (see map below). Our amazing CNCV volunteers continue to provide cleaning and maintenance annually.

The Greenwood Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Grass Valley is located on the Rough and Ready Highway (no street address but pulls up in Apple and Google). From Grass Valley town center, go west on Main Street approximately 1 mile. Main Street becomes Rough and Ready Hwy. There are two side-by-side cemeteries on the right side of road. Go past the first one, which is St. Patrick Catholic Cemetery. The second is our location at the Greenwood Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Enter the main entrance for Greenwood, drive right around circle to the top (on the map below), to the unendowed Section IV. On the map below, X marks the gravesite. You'll see cars and friendly Cherokees.
