Mystery Solved: Hog Fry Cooking Crew

While we were in Marble City visiting our Sister Community in May, we met Jerry Bigfeather at the Bush Family Decoration Day Celebration. We were invited by Myra Bush Robertson. Jerry is Myra’s First Cousin. Not only is Jerry an accomplished and talented Fiddle Player, Jerry heads and leads the annual Cherokee Nation Fiddle Competition. It was our pleasure to meet and spend some time with Jerry.
Jerry and their Hog Fry cooking crew cook for Principal Chief Chuck Hoskin Jr during his annual visits to Cherokee Nation At-Large Communities. They transport a complete, well organized, ready for anything, traveling cooking kitchen. We learned that they did our Hog Fry in Fairfield on April 27 this year.
I told Jerry we were in the dark on how the hog fry was done at Fairfield. Mystery solved: he said they cooked at a local city park and transported the cooked food to the venue at Fairfield High School. Jerry said it was a rainy day and quite an experience. Jerry showed me photos on his phone and sent them to me. Please enjoy Jerry’s photos. It would be great if we could entice Jerry to come and visit us.
