Remember the Removal Bike Ride Send-Off Ceremony

While we were in Tahlequah, we attended the send off ceremony for the Remember the Removal Bike Riders. It was well attended with many Cherokee dignitaries and speakers, including past bike riders speaking on the importance on how the ride positively influenced their lives. It was a moving and uplifting day. They are proud to have a new beautiful trailer loaded with bikes and their supplies.

They travel up to North Carolina then ride their bikes, with Eastern Band Cherokees, back to Tahlequah. The trip takes 3 weeks and more, depending on weather conditions. They don’t ride during lightning storms or in extreme weather conditions. They are led by Will Chavez.
